Our scholastic lead put an end to one player running up the score, and believe me, we had a lot of it. We had teams where 1 player was putting up 8 out of 10 goals, or 11+ goals. League said 3 goals and they can't score anymore. If they do, not only is the goal not counted, but it's a penalty.

The b American League does that it’s a terrible rule.... it changes the way games are played and coached....

Changed the way the game is played and coached?
YOUTH sports at its core should center around the children. Not the adults organizing or watching. In the backyard or on a frozen pond, if one kid is clearly better, he/she gets handicapped or restricted to make the competition fun for the entire group. And the better player agrees or else he/she won’t be invited to future games.
What does a player or team learn by getting beat 10-0? What does a Chicago AAA team gain when they enter the A division tournament in FL and win with +54 goal differential during 5 games?
If a league doesn’t want to ensure balance between their teams, then I say there is nothing wrong with penalizing a player that can’t share the puck or allowing an inferior team to play with 6 skaters until a point when the score is balanced. Adults lament the ‘integrity’ of the game, but children will manipulate the rules to ensure they are welcome to keep playing.

On the flip side of this, the DVHL really needs to do something about their formula for how they place teams. From what I understand, Delco had to play 18aa this past season because of a combination of how their 16aa and 18a teams performed the previous season. If anyone looked at their roster after tryouts you could clearly see this was not a AA team. I don't believe 1 player from 16aa stayed and maybe handful of the 18a team was their. The majority of kids were from their 16 National and American teams which is why they ended up 1-26.

Penalize a player because he’s better than your loser kid?  What total crap. You must be a leftwing social fascist.  If you want a lowest common denominator sport try cup stacking....

They were not forced, but decided on by the coach and "ace coordinator". Yet another good example of how that board and organization is out of touch and failing.

Agree.  Perhaps the club and rink should have done more to keep their good 16’s to build a stronger 18U program.  Can’t fault the kids for wanting to leave an organization that failed them.
