Avs don't have a 18 Premier team this year?
Topic: June 23, 2021, 04:13:53 PM
Based on the Avs site, they don't have an 18 Premier team this year. Is this true? Can someone clarify?

Link where I found it: Teams | North Jersey Avalanche

no, Avs coaches went to Gulls, Avs coaches raided best players, Gulls leave AYHL to avoid player movement rule... think that sums it up

the Bear not involved

I don't understand. Avalanche are in Hackensack.
Gulls are in LI. Although if you look at the website it doesn't say anything about where the Gulls play.
So parents are going to schlep little Johnny from NJ to LI for youth hockey? Wow!

First - BlackBear doesn't own Ice House.

Second - 1/2 of the kids that play on the top 16U and 18U teams for the Avs aren't from NJ, or even the tri-state region.  There are kids from IL, OH, and even Canada and they are housed here through billets.  Those kids don't care where they play, as long as they have a good coach, get a ton of ice, and get exposure to scouts for college, etc.

Third - It is true.  The Avs midget program is in shambles and the Gulls have left the AYHL as an entire organization and gone independent for at least this coming season (probably forever).  Bad news for the AYHL as it loses one of its premier programs.

Speaking of billeting, didn't the Avs owner have most of those kids living on his property which included a private rink?
