I think people switch clubs for a number of reasons, coach that the kid was being coached by leaves and moves out of the area, kid clashes with the new coach and so leaves?  Kids friends leave the current team and kid wants to play with his friend.  Maybe kid wants fresh air and a new start, maybe the current program can't offer the kid a challenge as they develop?  Maybe current program is falling apart and the kid/parent want to move to a more "put together" organization.

We are leaving to a different organization because this past summer Black Bear bought our rink. After everyone else had their Livebarn turned back on our rink as well as the other Black Bear rinks kept them off all season long. I didn't like that at all- it's just one of the many issues we've had with Black Bear

Black Bear owns our rink a well, and have been great since they took over. Our LB was tuned off too, but they allowed both home and visiting teams to stream. Honestly,  the quality of the video was far better than LiveBarn and with Black Bear allowing parents/teams to stream it had nothing to do with the rink or club not wanting us parents to see their kids play via video.  I still can't understand the argument as to why BB is bad for the area.  They are making capital improvements to their facilities and offer tons of programs. In some cases, these rinks would not have survived.

If you are switching programs over streaming or not streaming games you are a complete idiot and should not be a parent.  Try focusing on what’s best for your child for once.

Couldn’t get out of BB fast enough. Coaching was a disaster program disorganized few parents  ran program for their own kids benefit. Tryouts were a cash cow.  Our kid switched sports since youth hockey is a total mess. Whole youth hockey should be torn down and start over. Have fun wasting $4500 a season!

Sounds like your son needed a new start (bad coaching), but ALL SPORTS have expenses now. Soccer, Baseball, even basketball have high prices for travel levels, and clinics, off-field, ice, court training all add up. While hockey will remain a bit higher because it costs money to keep ice cold, it is all relative.

Nonsense, my kid wants to play on a team that can win it all. He has been the best or among the best players on his team the past few years. Brings it every time he is on the ice even at practice. too many other players on his team cruise it at practice. so yes he wants to play on a team that has a chance to win and more importantly can provide players that he can catch up too in order to get better.

Exactly. Youth hockey is a fiasco and USA Hockey is largely to blame.
