Topic: March 04, 2019, 12:19:29 PM

NEW APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO DVHL BEING TAKEN!
According to the DVHL bylaws, new applications are required to be voted on at our March 13th annual meeting.  New applicants must apply a minimum of two weeks prior to the meeting.  Information needed can be found in our bylaws, under new membership.

To date, we have received applications from the organizations listed below.  None of these organizations are guaranteed entry to the league.  The vote to allow/deny will be done by the membership at the March 13th meeting.

Slim and none. Why would any team vote them in? They would be setting a precedent that would allow rink owners to price a standing club out of their rink and just replace them with their own club. Leaving an already established and good standing league team looking for Ice elsewhere.
The Pond is already trying it with the Ducks......
Why would any club allow this to happen?

The owner of the Team Philly club and Jr Flyers is on the board of AAHA https://www.atlantic-district.org/page/show/4665259-directors-and-officers. It's a conflict of interests.

Regarding Team Phila comments, T2 youth hockey is supposed to be about the kids, not the adults making business decisions that some disagree with. Why would DVHL not include a 4 sheet rink local to other DVHL teams? Seems silly to me.

Why? Because then it will give all rink owners reason to kick out other clubs and steal their players. People are fine with his business decision and he should be fine playing in the EJ and playing middle school teams.
What if every rink owner decided to start there own T2 club? What happens to everyone else that made the league what it is today.
We will see tonight if the other clubs want to set that precedent or not.....I think they will submit their own demise if they do ...... we’ll see

If they don’t get it, I wonder how many families will bail for other local clubs.  Many families were unhappy with the scheduling this year, and if it will be the same next year some will move on.

I’m sure that Ice Line will still have plenty of kids to fill 5 teams at each level, but the talent will be diluted.  Some teams had challenges competing at their levels this past season - next year will be worse if their better player bolt for other options.

I'm not a fan nor am I in favor of Team Philadelphia being granted membership. Kids hockey isn't supposed to be a business and unethical unprofessional behavior shouldn't be acceptable similarly. Unfortunately I do think the owner's position within the AAHA will determine their approval. Rank and file will not be allowed to disprove him.
