Just told slots are going in August 1! I am leaving Hollydell and going to AC. Can't wait to drop juniors college money doing my 2 favorite things- watching youth hockey and gambling. Looking forward to  casinos sports books adding youth sports!
If it stops bb from taking this club down then fine. keep in mind they are the ones that turned yout sports into a corporate money making endeavor. And if you don't accept their terms they give you the boot. That sounds reasonable though right? Let me guess but but but they're saving youth hockey. YEH RIGHT!

BB asked for a 3 year commitment from AC and they turned them down. AC wanted BB to invest over $400k into the rink for a 1 year contract. How is that BB taking down youth hockey? BB will save youth hockey as your rink will be closed next year while they save 32 rinks! Also BB raised prices this year but other non-BB rinks raised their prices more. Don't blame BB. AC rink will be in same position next year. AC only gave 1 year before rink is closed and sold off to a developer. Don't ever believe a politician!

Not true.  Aspen Ice was a very successful rink with a very successful Tier II team just a couple of years ago. The owner was ready to move to the next stage in his life and Black Bear came along and bought the rink.  Then the NJ Freeze get forced out (families literally locked out when they show up for practice), and the rink gets a new "corporate" name and fresh coat of paint.  Now the rink has no character and lots of vacant/underused ice slots. The ice is crappier too, since they've shortened the resurfacing time.

But we pay more for the privilege.

they saved it and changed it, from what you say not for the better. The way they saved it is the fact as you said the owner wanted to move on to the next stage of his life. BB buying it kept it a rink were if someone else would have it, it may not be a rink anymore. Pros and Cons to everything

Stop already they didn't save anything. They're in the process of taking away youth hockey and corporatizing it all in the name of profit. Saving it would have been buying the rinks and fixing them then allowing hockey to continue as non profit. Buying rinks then creating a new supplemental showcase league, tier2 league, tier1 league, girls league, and tournament system all to play under their own exclusive all inclusive company system isn't saving anything it's monopolizing. It's like Biden saying his admin will build back better but everything has to be torn down then completely destroyed first then they'll build back whatever shell remains with cheap garbage and say they saved the the US, and they'll only build back with one company.

So you would have preferred if someone bought it and turned it into a diesel dealership and garage like they did with one of our local rinks. Good to know

BB saved your rink. They also are saving NJ & PA youth hockey. I loved the DV & BJ leagues with 18 games. Then our manager had to schedule the rest. Was a ton of work, NJ took forever to get schedule out and the league playoffs consist of 2 games. What a great league. At least the AHF brings 6 teams minimum into playoffs and ran a great tournament by the way.

AHF is first class league with tons of league games, tournaments that bring in money to BB owned rinks (included in price for season by the way) and 3 showcase events (also included). Also the Tier 1 league is meant to eliminate the blowout games so frequent in the AYHL. BB is spreading girls hockey as well. Where are the DV and NJ girls league. BB also puts money into rinks you may not see, like mechanicals, roofing, plumbing, etc. My family has had nothing but great experiences with BB and AHF. BB saved countless rinks that were going out of business. Non-Profit is BS anyway. Owners of Non-Profit only means you either have to put the profits back into the rink or pay bonuses to staff/management. Don't think these former owners did not pay themselves. NP is the biggest racket there is in the US. They all make profits, pay bonuses to management, put tons of money into a 403b retirement plans and then act benevolent!

Owning an ice rink is a business, not charity. If you don't like BB leave the rink, but don't blame BB because AC or your former rink owner abandoned you.

I have never witnessed so many dumb people. You all buy the line of a politician when all BB wanted was a 3 year lease to invest $400k in the rink. Did anyone ask AC or Casino's why they did not grant this? No! In 2 years the rink will be closed and condos will be built. Then you will come to your senses and put the blame where it belongs, on the politicians and Casinos. The Casinos have made AC into a hell hole because all they want is people coming inside. If outside is unsafe, everyone goes to gamble! WAKE UP!!!!!

Little Caesars own Ocean Casino Resort! Why not buy the rink and sponsor teams?

This thread reads like a Boardwalk Empire spinoff series.
