COLMAR, PA - North Penn students came out in droves and filled the stands with an estimated 300 spectators combined in attendance, and the Knights provided a performance that had the fans buzzing throughout the entire game.

Tyler Greenstein got the fireworks started twenty-four seconds into the game with a rush driving through the Pennridge defense, finding Tommy Boyle open on the left point.  Boyle threw a shot at the Pennridge goalie which rebounded into the slot and wound up on Greenstein's blade.  He fired the puck past Ryan Pico, stunning the Ram's faithful. Pennridge coach, Jeff Montagna, made a veiled attempt at playing the trap but the Knights skaters weren't having it.  They were up to the challenge and put down the strategy forcing Montagna to scrap it before it could get started. The two teams skated intensely with Pennridge getting quality shots on Knights goalie, Nick Ebbinghaus. At 10:57 Rams forward Jeff Manto would have a golden opportunity when Jack Lowery would find Manto wide open on the right-wing. Threading a pass from the Rams defensive zone, Lowery gave Manto a clean breakaway which he wouldn't fail to cash in on. He skated in unimpeded and ripped a shot over the glove hand of Ebbinghaus to even the score, 1-1. Luke Van Why would put the Knights ahead 2-1 with 7:40 left to play in the first, catching a nice pass from DJ Zeiger. The first period would end with both teams playing stellar defense, and the Knights in the lead.

The second period would start in a similar fashion to the first with the Knights striking again, early. Just over a minute into the period, off of a Knights defensive zone draw, Chase Mueller would wrap around a pass off of the boards to Ryan Kaufhold. Kaufhold flicked a pass past a Rams defender which linemate Zack Cline would pick up and break out on a 2 on 1 odd-man rush with Jeromy Porubski. Cline hoisted a beautiful pass over Pennridge defender Jacob Lizak's stick and hit the streaking Porubski sending him in alone on the Pennridge Goalie. Porubski split goalie Pico's legs going five-hole to put the Knights ahead extending the lead to 3. That would stand as the period's only goal scored.

The second would close, 3-1,  after a strong defensive effort from both sides.  North Penn and Pennridge traded shots while the goalies put them all aside, Ebbinghaus stopping 15 and Pico 7.

The third period was all North Penn.  As Pennridge looked to close the gap and put goals on the board, their defense opened up and they went on the offensive. This gave the Knights an opportunity to extend their lead and put the game out of reach. Tommy Boyle would get on the board at 11:20 after an offensive zone draw and win by Tony Tuozzo. Zack Cline would tap the puck back to defenseman Luke VanWhy. VanWhy swung the puck to his partner Tommy Boyle who sailed the puck past the Pennridge goalie to make the score 4-1.

With the game firmly out of reach, Tyler Greenstein would put the final nail in the coffin with 3:38 left to play giving him his second goal of the game. Off the offensive zone draw, Josh Kaufhold would throw a pass to Tony Tuozzo behind the Pennridge net. Tuozzo would find  Greenstein all alone in the slot, feeding him a 1-timer beating the Rams goalie handily. In the third period, the Pennridge offensive threat was stymied by a Knights combined defensive effort which allowed only 3 Rams shots in the final frame.

Not to be lost in the shuffle, forwards Nick Considine and Carlos Goncalves came into their first Varsity game playing several shifts a piece providing excitement for their fellow students, friends, family, and teammates who had an opportunity to watch them play. Both Considine and Goncalves played with various members of the Knights forward lines with intensity and purpose. They both made the best of their opportunities and enjoyed the moment.
