Unless your bringing grandmom and grandpop who are on oxygen why should anybody care? They shouldn't be there in the first place. The rules are stupid an make no sense. The kids get sick just like they always will throughout their lives and they will get better, unless the science says kids are dying which it never has. Stay home you big baby because nobody cares about you and your end of the world crisis alerts.

Right, because while I'm at the office I can run his life like a drill instructor.  No need to judge my parenting skills through a keyboard.  You don't know anything about other peoples individual situations.

My son is eager to get on the ice.  He had practice this morning and jumped up out of bed ready to go.  As a parent, did I force him to go, no.. I would rather stay home and do other activities like some of my hobbies that I enjoy.

We all want this BS to end and return back to normal.  The curve is flat, hospitals are not overwhelmed, lets get back into the rink, wear a mask, socially distance and let our kids have fun!  In the fall, lets get these folks out of office who are not listening to the people and vote in people that actually care.

Remember his son needs to be on the ice because he is going pro! A few month delay or change in schedule would be detrimental to his son’s career. Daddy ball at its best by hardo dad! SKATE!!!!!!

DVHL has some proposed alternative formats posted on their website. All are 4v4 with different length periods.

Lots of opinions and some good suggestions.
I'll start with this....."In my opinion"

• I tend to agree with one post....Postponing the league until Jan would probably be a good idea. I might suggest creating in-house only from Oct-Dec, that way money is generated and risk is minimized.

• I suggest postponing for a few reasons.

1) It's a team sport, having more than 1/2 of your team in a locker room while the other half plays is generally not conducive in any way to team building.

2) It's only fair to allow parents to share in the experience. Imagine traveling to Wilkes-Barre or Delaware and sitting in your car for hours. Not exactly fun.

3) Schedule has been released, Don't think anyone noticed that Philly and DE are out. Not quite sure about other regions. Assuming other areas like Pittsburgh, Lancaster, Chester co. all have the option to cancel and such. Would be nice if everyone was onboard.

4) Finances. It's not cheap to play hockey and clubs need to collect payments sooner than later. (Guessing everyone has gotten the payment requested email) Many parents have held off to await DVHL announcement. Knowing the situation, A deduction is more than likely in the immediate future, why not postpone and collect full payment/s for a full season in Jan.

5) Travel and tournaments....both of which I love. No team in their right mind, is going to schedule the Boston, Niagra, Canada trip. I also think the chances of a season postponed increase when traveling around to places like Hershey, without a doubt.

6) Coaches, Referees and support staff at rinks are not kids. There chances of infection are far greater. Most cannot afford to be down a few weeks being sick and probably are not exactly interested at spending time in a hospital. Think of others involved.

In conclusion....

• Postpone the season until Jan 2021.
• Run in-house with all of the kids currently enrolled for Oct-Dec at your local rink or even combining with a neighboring rink that is not over 20-30 minutes away.
• Stay safe, play hockey and get ready for 2021.

All of this. Sensible. It will also save the rinks -- with running in-house "leagues" as weekly pick-up games among kids from one or two nearby rinks, there will more likely be a pool of healthy/non-quarantined children to play each week meaning teams won't have to cancel and rinks lose that payment for ice time.

Take out checking and run the games 4x4 with no faceoffs as Ontario is doing and the risk is about as low as it can get. 4x4 means kids will be forced to skate and pass and that's never a bad thing.  :D
