One thing I have noticed is players that play AAA Mite are way better skaters than half ice mite kids at Squirt. But this starts to even out for some at PW. Whatever you chose make sure the coaches concentrate of skating- both the stride and edge work. This is what separates the good player from the great player. With that being said even the great full ice Mite player may not be great after puberty hits. Puberty is the great equalizer. Great players become average and average players become great. 8 years old are not a finished product and either are 16 year old kids. It is a marathon not a sprint. If you keep this in mind, you will know what to do!

Agree. Spend money and time on pure skating skills. All the best development programs in the world play small spaces with younger children. Full-ice mite and good development in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
