2023 DVHL Commitments
Topic: January 10, 2023, 12:01:15 AM
In the last DVHL minutes they indicated they were looking for their current clubs to let them know if they were returning next season by the end of the year.  Does anyone know which teams may have committed?

Haven’t heard anything yet about DVHL, but AHF is quick to post on social media when they poach other teams, especially from the NJYHL. Can’t imagine the DVHL or  NJYHL existing much longer unless something changes. AHF isn’t perfect but they have the volume of teams to make for competitive games.

Rumor around our club, from a travel/scholastic parents, is that Genesis is on the verge of jumping over. I'm not with Genesis so I don't know if the chatter is there, but that is the word going around inside our rink walls. If it would happen it would be a huge gut punch to the DVHL and the remaining clubs. I also heard that black bear will be pulling all their clubs from any other league that's not the AHF, plus that a couple non BB clubs that did a partial AHF season this year going full AHF next year. If these things happen I don't see how a NJ/DV merger doesn't happen.

DVHL January meeting is tonight.  Will be interesting to see how next year shapes up.

DVHL prior to the AHF team splitting off wasn't perfect, but the travel wasn't so bad.  Most games were less than an hour and once in a while we had to make a longer trip (York, Wilkes-Barre, Harrington).  Really not to0 keen on having to travel long distances for leave games.

Really hope that the DVHL can continue to play without having to merge with NJYHL.

My son's team is also playing EJ this year, and hate having to travel to NJ for games and showcases.  Also really don't need to have a 50-60 game schedule.

If the EJ and DVHL are playing in Jersey alot,  you may as well just join the AHF.  The showcases are all in South Jersey and North Jersey.

If the DVHL does not merge with NJ, consider it dead along with the clubs still in it.  Genesis must be scrambling now that they were denied AHF.  Parents will certainly not put up with another year of this crap.  Kids with talent (AA) are not going to develop by playing in watered down divisions.  Several of the AA divisions in the DVHL were MOSTLY composed of A-level teams.  So, 2 or 3 teams would crush the remaining 6-8 teams and no kid is served by that model.  It is really that a program that is as healthy as Genesis is going to get gutted if they don't figure something out soon (like in the next month).  A merge with NJYHL is the only way forward as I doubt going independent is something anyone in Genesis is interested in.

Genesis applied and were denied entry to AHF? Source?

If that is true then Black Bear seems to be pushing remaining rinks into financial trouble so they can buy them up at a discount. Genesis is really the only rink outside of Aston that would be attractive to the AHF to add. Exton would also be attractive due to the historic quality of their top teams. The rest are filler rinks with single sheet facilities.

Is this speculation that Genesis was denied entry or is this a fact?

Is anybody surprised that they would be denied? Gunty and most of his partners don't have a relationship with the rink owners or Genesis hockey club management. Montagna and Jackson are DVHL board members and they've locked horns repeatedly in the past.

"There is no rift and you will most likely see Genesis in the AHF next year."
"I thought there was a rift between Genesis, Delco and Team Philadelphia whos owner is an officer or something for the AHF. Something about Genesis and Delco putting Team Philly on a probation period after Ice Line did the Quakers dirty. If that is true that could carry over to them joining the AHF but I could be mistaken though."
looks like this comment from the rift post seems to be accurate.
