Word of advice have back up plans because when team 1 fails you have another that you can seek.  Need to have everything layed out so you do not get burnt but some verbal commitment.

I find all this hilarious! Most people think in South Jersey think PHC is the gold standard. If PHC is the gold standard, why do they not have 1 team at Nationals? Why are other area teams like Jr.F, Palmyra, Woodbridge and Rockets at nationals. Because they are better programs. Yes some of these teams have former Venom/PHC kids on the teams, but most of the Venom kids developed at Pennsauken and most of the former PHC kids left a while ago and did non-team training at other rinks. I am here to say to any parent still trying to decide, go to other Tier 1 tryouts because other rinks have a lot to offer. I here all the bashing of FE, Mercer, Revolution and  other because their teams are not very good or high in the MHR rankings. Funny thing is a lot of players from PHC, JrF, LF and Rockets all go to these rinks for privates, power skating and goalie clinics. If these programs suck so much, why are kids in the rinks training in off season. If all these high level kids went to these rinks the teams would be better but they get lured into the PHC BS! PHC has poached 13U and higher kids from Mercer, FE, Rev and some AA teams for years.  Have any of these kids actually gotten better? Some kids on the 2012 PHC got better but RA is no longer your coach. You will have to put up with TB. From what I am hearing a lot of the 2013 kids will look elsewhere since ROM is out and TB is in. Stop drinking the PHC kool-aide. PHC is not the rink it used to be when they were producing NHL and tons of college players. GG is gone and TB is no GG! Also AYHL top teams are no better than the THF top teams. THF looks worse because they have 3x. Top teams are really good. Mercer 2013 was 3 in NJ. I know they were far back of WBG and PHC, but from what I am told, multiple PHC are going there and they will be better than PHC next season. AYHL is not the league it used to be. PHC is going down! And no my kid was not shunned by PHC. He was asked to tryout this year after a clinic. PHC contacts called me 15x trying to get me to leave current rink. My answer was why would I leave current rink/coach if they made him into a player PHC wants?  PHC had no response.

Today is judgement day. Who makes and who does not.  How may D-1 scholarships will be given today or better yet entry level contracts.  Those that make to the signing table congrats.  Those that do not do not give up tier 2 is next week.

PHC got considerably weaker from 2012 through 2009.  Decimated in some years.

Top 2013 kids will love TB 2nd - 4th lines not so much.

2013 little flyers mine as well be AA so that’s funny they will be terrible.
Phc 2013s had some change won’t be as strong as last year but should be decent.
JRF 2013 power house this year
MM 2013 decent
Aaa 2012-2009 had the typical movement of club hoppers
Woodbridge is the place to go they will be top 10 across all levels.

If PHC is the best AAA team in area, where are the District Titles? Why are they promoting kids from AA Hurricanes that are not AAA players? If the AYHL is so great why did THF do better in districts and nationals? PHC is losing its mojo. 2015-way weaker, 2014-weaker, 2013 weaker, 2012-weaker. 15O and up are crap shoots for all rinks. They better players leave for academies, Prep or Juniors. I just find it laughable that people still think PHC is the best org around. They are good, but other organizations produce just as many high level players that PHC does.

Wait wasn’t it just a few pages ago they weren’t a quality rink because they didn’t develop players from aa to aaa and promote from within? Now they’re being faulted for it? This is hard to keep up with. Please share the rink you’re at, I love greener grass.

I read what it said and it was said they rarely promote from within, not never. PHC is a good program but there are a lot of good coaches out there even at AAA teams that may not have a great record. None of what happened before checking matters anyway. Real hockey starts this season for the 2013 kids. I have been around a long time and seen kids that just can't handle checking at AAA level. The game changes: end to end rushes are few and far between, dangling at blue line will get you killed most of the time, not keeping your head up as you skate to the middle to shoot will get you killed, passing is more important than ever, quick feet matter now to avoid checks, speed is negated by a simple bump most of the times and fear of getting hit can take over a kids game. These kids that moved up from AA to PHC may turn out to be great or maybe not. Time will tell. I wish all the kids luck at all rink tryouts moving forward and hope to see more AA kids get their shots with AAA since most want 15-18 skaters now. I just hope kids at PHC 2013 & 2012 don't get discouraged with TB who loves to shorten the bench.
