THF parity is a joke! Some teams only had 8 players skating. Some teams had 6-8 new players and had 1 or no practices together. Some teams are going to be worse, but some teams that were not very good, have a lot more talent and will be way better next year. The teams that did well at the parity were teams that had little turnover. Don't judge anything on parity, especially this year. Last year there was a month between tryouts and parity. This year it was 9 days. Plus how much can you really learn about a team during a 30 minute running clock with penalty shot breakaways for power plays.

The parity event is the invention of Black Bear. They do it in AHF, THF and AGHF. It has nothing to do with parity and everything to do with $. BB wants teams in their rinks and league member rinks during the slow time of spring. This is why teams that play in these leagues pay more $ than other leagues. It is a 100% money grab. Now, THF is not really a Tier 1 league. THF top 4-5 teams are Tier 1 but the rest are AA. Kind of like the lower teams in AYHL. Top 4-5 teams are Tier 1 but the rest are really AA. Don't make it seem like all teams in AYHL are Tier 1. They are not!

Big week for 13U and over. Tryouts are here! Any rumors people are hearing on movement. I heard PHC 14U & 13U have already promised spots to kids from some THF teams that were terrible. I watched these kids at both levels play and if PHC is taking them, their rankings will be worse than last season. Two kids are AA at best and the other kids are low AA/ high A. 1 forward and 1 d barely could survive at the lowest level of THF. What is PHC thinking? These kids should be ticketed for Hurricanes AA/A, but PHC guaranteed them spots.  For the kids and PHC's sake, I hope my information is wrong! I hate to watch kids put in situations that are above their playing ability. Plus the parents will cause major issues if their kids are bottom line players. Good luck!

The beginning of phase of tryouts.  This is a fun time with all the moves that will occur from team to team.  AAA teams building stronger talent with what they have recruited.  Just remember because you are signing does not mean that you will see increased playing time but that does not matter to some. The 13u-18uAAA tryout season will be fun. Stay tuned.
