It is amazing to me that all the people on here complaining about about "daddy hockey" and dad coaches have not said one thing about PHC at the 2016, 2015 & 2014 age levels. All three have dad head coaches and dad assistant coaches. I guess PHC gets a pass because their teams are good. However our AAA organization played the 2015 team and the parents were screaming at the coach about playing time and how the coaches kids get more ice time than the other players. Our organizations AA team played JH 2013 FY team and parents were complaining about JH kid doing whatever he wanted on the ice: 3-4 minute shifts, never passing, not playing D. All the other kids were yelled at by JH except his son. I guess when you recruit top talent you get a pass on the daddy coaches. Put in better coaches with the talent PHC has and they would be top 10 at these levels. This is why I left PHC. Keep drinking the kool-aid hypocrites!!!!!!!

JH has 15 years of coaching experience at tier 1 and played NCAA D1. 2015 assistant is a Dad with long career in AHL. Hard to believe you can’t see the difference between this and a guy who knows zero about the sport.

JH will not succeed at PHC. He's not a good coach.

Did you get the news early your kid is not making the team? What do you know about his ability to coach?

How many parent hearts did JH  break tonight at the phc evals and how many past coached players of his made the phc 2013 team.

Most programs have rosters on the first or second night. However, there’s one team that stands apart PHC. By choosing to hold off on selections, they ensure players won’t seek out tryouts with other clubs. This strategy effectively locks them into a Hurricanes spot, creating a consistent flow of revenue. It’s a strategic move that puts financial gain above the true spirit of the sport, ensuring that money continues to circulate within the organization.

This has been going on for years. Parents need to be smarter. Talk to the coach before tryouts. Ask them specifically about your kid's spot on the team. If they dont give a strong sense that they will make it, keep your options option. Talk to other rinks, have a plan. Plenty of parents have gotten pissed in not making a team, and left the rink, Hurricanes isnt assumed
