...And these are the children who have played for 3 organizations in the past 4 years, kill a locker room, mature into young adults with few long time friends from his/her hockey team(s), and go on to play beer-league with the rest of us (which is perfectly fine, btw). If the rest of us are lucky, they learn from their parents mistakes and go on to parent-coach their own children, for the love of the game. It really is an awesome game...if we let it be.

The bigger issues are the coaches Paid and Parent who refuse to accept any input on the team practice or game decisions and the team continues the same mistakes every game because the Coach "thinks he is only one that knows" leads too a frustrating season of little improvement and anyone who suggests things get changed up is labeled a complainer. Its an epidemic at Hollydell with parents who sit in silence and watch the fiasco play out every year. We will be thankful when our kids age out and move on from youth hockey

;D ;D LOL You are right we also wanted to give the new owner a chance to move things in a different more positive direction but it seems the same old "director"with his Harsh attitude towards the children still controls the programs and it is not an environment we will stay in. So many other choices now with a friendlier hockey learning experience.

It definitely goes both ways.  We have a non-parent coach in our organization who is part of the social circle.  He went a way for a weekend during evals with families of some of the kids who were currently being evaluated.  Not surprisingly, they all made the team.  Most of them deserved to.

The coach also has his favorite players who happen to be in that social circle who are rewarded playing time while making the same mistakes other kids are yelled at or benched for.

Boy watch this over and over, Coaches pets commit penalties, chronically off sides, make same mistakes the other kids make who get benched or short shifted
