This past weekend the Philadelphia Revolution Jr. A hockey team had what was considered to be just another typical Eastern League (EHL) game scheduled to play the New York Applecore.
That assumption couldn't have been further from the truth.
On Saturday night, coach Jon Rogger suffered a massive heart attack while coaching the Revolution Jr. A hockey team. He was rushed to a nearby New York Hospital and was immediately transferred by ambulance to Danbury Hospital where life saving surgery was performed.
Jon then experienced a major setback when his heart failed again on Monday, in which case he needed emergency resuscitation. The doctors were forced to sedate Jon and add a life saving ventilator to help in his recovery. He has been in the Cardiac Care ICU since Monday and will remain there for the next few days while they monitor his progress. Today Jon will undergo his 3rd heart procedure to implant a permanent defibrillator to regulate his arrhythmia.
As part of the local east coast hockey community some may know Jon from past hockey interactivity and experiences, others may not. As a Husband, father, son and friend he could use all of the help he can get at this very traumatic and challenging time.
