Description: NAHL team directs players to drive themselves after bus breaks down

In what seems like a normal occurrence at Jr level ice hockey, a Tier ll NAHL Jr A hockey team chose to direct it's players to fend for themselves and drive to their next game instead of chartering a replacement for their broken down bus.

Bad idea.

Conditions were not ideal and instead of postponing the game or making other transportation arrangements the directive was to drive out and "we'll see everybody there". The names of the players have not been released due to the fact there were no critical injuries and all 4 walked away. But what remains to be seen or tended to is the fact that they were told to make their own arrangements for travel. This isn't an isolated issue, it happens all of the time. Lower level Jr hockey teams don't make a lot of money, they take everything they can get and the show almost always goes on exclusively for profit's sake. As the South Dakota State Police continue their investigation more details will surface which will shed light on who is responsible not only for the well being of the players but also for such a bad decision. Apparently this teams management staff doesn't remember the Humbolt Bronco's tragedy.

SO TRUE! Junior hockey and lowest level pro is nothing but a cash grab by the owners PLAY AT ALL COST! as long as it isn't the owners lives at stake. A similar type incident took place in in 2012 in the FHL when the Thousand Island Privateers were forced to travel to Syracuse in a blizzard on the team bus. Team management and players were threatened with firings or being cut if they didn't go. http://thefhltruth.blogspot.com/2012/03/real-truth-about-fhl-1000-islands-and.html
