Youth Coaches with Criminal Records
Topic: May 25, 2019, 02:46:57 AM
Trying to gather some opinions on youth coaches with criminal records. I have recently discovered my childs coach has a pretty lengthy record, non-violent, but tipping out at 10 charges with a few still pending. To be completely honest I don't really know how I feel about this guy coaching my kid after discovering all of this..

I’d confirm he is USA hockey certified. Typically USA hockey won’t provide a certification. Also I guess I’d question the orgs vetting process.

we were very surprised to find our coach has a record too after we heard a rumor about a sordid past. I Googled his name with arrested and boom. It is pretty surprising the USA hockey allows coaches with records.

I'm assuming they're all non-violent offenses and/or don't involve kids?

How about the ones that Mentally abuse small kids ? verbal berating, singling players out after games and practices, creating division among the team while clueless parents sit by and watch their children be emotionally abused because they are too scared to say anything that will turn the coach against their kid?
