Why do teams play down in Tourneys?
Topic: July 30, 2019, 03:58:07 PM
Why would a coach take an "AA" team and play in an "A" level tourney, win it all and then brag on their webpage about how his "AA" won it all? Without mention that it was an "A" level tourney.

This.

Makes the parents think their bad season is a success. Same reason why A level teams bring ringers who don't play for that team and normally play on higher level teams.

The teams who call themselves elite do this all the time. Look at myhockeyrankings. They schedule A and AA level tourns and independent season schedules all the time. They don't tell the parents that is the level they're playing against as they mow over all of them and look like a super AAA team.

Same reason someone would manipulate the game clock when their team is losing and on a power play.

Were they a "major" age all-16 AA yr old team or a "minor" aged all-15 yr old team?  An all-16 yr old AA team playing in an A tourney is weak.  But not if they are all first year 15 yr olds.....A is right were they belong.  Especially if the organization also already has a major 16 yr AA old team....it would only make sense that the all-16 team is AA and the younger all-15 team is A.

Sour grapes, Joe.

It was an all 04 team. They are an A team. The organization has a 03 pure AA team.

Why do you care about what they do? What evolvement do have to worry about what others do unless it directly effects you. If that’s the case, then share who it is?
