“What size hockey helmet do I need?” Understanding how to properly fit youth hockey helmets

Hockey Helmets - Measure the circumference of your head just above the eyebrows and over the temples. You can use a soft measuring tape or something like a string, shoelace or anything similar that can be measured after the fact. Using the helmet's adjustment features, open it to the largest setting and position on your head so that the front of the helmet is one finger width above the eyebrows. Squeeze the helmet together so that a comfortable and snug fit is achieved and lock in the adjustment features. Check the fit by moving the helmet around with your hands and shaking your head from side to side. It should not move loosely around nor should it have an uncomfortable amount of pressure. A proper fit should be securely snug against the head yet comfortable. The chin cup of the cage or full face shield should be secure but not snug. There should be room to open the mouth wide enough to remove the mouth piece and drink water. ALWAYS TRY ON THE HELMET!
