Clinic coach Talha Javaid23 year old Talha Javaid told Yahoo Sports Canada he received a text message from one of his players parents. The text, read between the lines, demanded he quit his position as coach of his own free clinic.
As you can see from the screenshot of the message, it's riddled with racist and xenophobic comments suggesting the young man is unfit to instruct solely because of the parents religious and or racist beliefs. Javaid and his best friend Sebastian Nystrom run free hockey clinics in East Lansing, Mich., which they pay for the ice time with their own money. The development program they run provides instruction for children ages 5 to 8 years old. They give back to their community out of the kindness of their heart.
screenshot of the racist tweetA note to the parent of the player. Just because you preface your text with "
... btw, I'm not racist or anything, but" this does not absolve you from the obvious. You're very much a racist. By suggesting the coach quit hockey and instead coach cricket, that is a prototypical stereotyping situation.
