NORTH'S COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH TO BEAT SOUDERTON

1/3/2020HATFIELD, PA. - North came out of the holidays with some motivation to win this game. But they fell behind 3-0 and even though they made it a 3-2 game, it was too little too late, as Souderton ousted North 8-2 in a game that was closer than it might seem.
North got off to a bad start in the first period, allowing 2 goals. The first was scored by Braydon Clemens with 1min 17secs in. He made his way in on net, and went forehand to backhand a couple times before he used the backhand to put it past North goalie Rex Goldberg. He struck again a little over three minutes later when he ripped a shot that went off Goldberg’s stick and flew right past his left shoulder and into the back of the net.
The second period went a bit better for Council Rock North, but it sure didn’t start off well. Soudertons Tyler MacPhee pulled off the goal of the year when he neatly tucked the puck past Goldberg’s left pad into the net to give his team a three goal lead. However, just when all hope looked lost for North, Wilton Pasch flew down the left side and ripped a beautiful shot top shelf putting North right back into the game, down only 3-1.
North’s Vlad Litvinov then tacked on a second goal when he made a nice move on a Souderton defender, and slotted it five-hole past Souderton goalie Noah Connor. Unfortunately 3-2 would be as close as North would come.
Early in the third, the Indians looked gassed. They gave up two goals before the period was past the twelve minute mark. Soudertons Braydon Clemons earned his 3rd and 4th goal of the game with two wicked wrist shots, and the life was sucked out of North in a matter of minutes. Souderton added three more goals in garbage time from Carter Povazan and Tyler MacPhee twice. By the final buzzer, North was relieved that the game was over, looking tired they exited the ice.
Now onto the goalies. Rex Goldberg saved 20 out of 28 shots for Council Rock North on Friday night. Rex was good, but Noah Connors was just a little better. He saved 22 of 24 shots for Soudertons first win of the year. After the final horn, Connors was mobbed by teammates, and deservedly so.
