Can/Am is not cancelling their tournaments, So why would they push back "EVALS" (are a joke).
it's all about the dollars... Tier 2 tryouts should take place in August. Gives time for player to grow, train, etc..

Forget about the virus for a moment.
Kids go to camps and develop over the off season, summer months.
The season JUST ended.  At the moment the coaches KNOW the level of their players.  WHY would they need to have a couple practices in APRIL to decide a team roster for the fall?

If you think hockey is bad, soccer is 10 times worse. USA Hockey at least has an end date for the season and guidelines on when try outs can start. There is nothing like that in soccer. I think USA Soccer has a season end date some time in June, but nothing is tied to that other than the age groups changing. Most clubs in this area have try outs for the next season in April/May. My daughters team plays a spring season that goes into June. The last 2 years we have had scenarios were kids are getting cut for next season while still in the middle of playing spring season. Needless to say, its gets to be a little awkward.

Refs were trying to prevent handshakes after a Flyers Cup game last night and the kids were like, fuck it, and did it anyway.

Faster rate...? It's clear you do not understand how rate works...you may mean kills more people...but that's not really the right way to think about it - but you clearly did not think through this very much

Absolutely bang on. 💯

This Evaluations / Tryouts a week after your season ends is moronic. Wasn’t this way when I was a kid and that Summer to grow and improve was one hell of an internal motivator for players (read: not Mommy and Daddy forcing a Summer full of lessons on 8U and 10U players rather a player at 14U and up deciding on their own to dedicate themselves to extra practice and camps along with their other sports) You are actually (attempting) to evaluate (identify talented) players that are sore, injured as well as mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. Which is the definition of burn out.

This is an excellent opportunity for USA Hockey to pause and think what is best for kids... what gives kids best opportunity to succeed, not simply survive within the youth hockey system. 🙃

It won’t happen of course. But it should.... Out of Curiosity do Minnesota HS have their tryouts this week right after their State Tournament? Just curious.. 🤯

The clubs want their $$ guarantee and so do the rinks. That's why tryouts are immediately after the season ends. Everybody gets paid with no need to wait around in flux wondering.

Neither care about the your kid, they care about getting paid.

I agree with your point however, they will get paid either way. If its in May or if its in March. The issue that will happen is players getting signed before tryouts start.

AAHA cancelled all tryouts for every level until further notice.
