Push back Tryouts due to Covid-19
Topic: March 10, 2020, 10:56:09 AM
Should USA hockey  push back evals to avoid exposure? Rinks with multiple surfaces will be very crowded. Lots of battles etc will be taking place and small area games. USA hockey should react here.

why even bother with tryouts?  everyone knows where everyone is going to end up anyway.

oh and be quiet, chicken little.

if school is cancelled, then ok sure, cancel tryouts.

who is the idiot that decided to have tier 2 tryouts during spring break anyway?  family wrecker.

That's already happening with the current format. Most spring sports have already started at this point. Honestly, June would be the better option as most spring sports are done then.

Unfortunately., there's always going to be conflicts. And it happens in every sport. You just have to deal with it.

By all means fall into the mass hysteria. NO, evals should not be pushed back. Teach your kids to wash their hands, stay out of people's faces and be mindful of their surroundings.

The issue is there is no season for hockey. Starts pre labor day and goes until the beginning of April. And that is the regular season. It is crazy. Say what you want about other sports, but the main season is still 2-3 months. Sure there is fall baseball, spring 7 on 7 football, but the main season is resonable. Hockey is just insanity.

Rink and money driven, not kid driven like it should be.

Solution? ImUSA hockey stepping in for the good of kids and truly embracing the ADM model not just on half ice, but season length and multiple sports.

Do the right thing USA hockey. The multi millionaire rink owners will not go broke and I am sure they will find other purposes for the rink. Melt the ice to save $$$, bring in circuses, convert to training facilities for the season (Lacrosse, baseball, soccer, football), hold ping pong tournaments, etc.

Practice what you preach USA Hockey and allow our kids to become the athletes you breach by shortening the season and making it a true winter sport.
