Blackbear abandons AC Sharks!
Topic: March 08, 2022, 03:17:57 PM
Blackbear shutdown AC Skatezone today stealing everything that wasn't locked down including a $100,000 ZAMBONI! We spent $10,000 there last year with 2 kids playing sharks, skating, pro shop, etc., and this is how Blackbear repays us!

Couldn't even stay to end of lease in April so we could have tryouts! No mention of any of this on website or facebook. Not sure that we will have any travel teams here next year! Sharks franchise owned by Blackbear!

This is how they operate! 1000% business and money, 0% for the kids! Blackbear knew when they took over from Comcast that they had only 1 year leases there, made 0 improvements and blamed everyone else! We don't believe that they ever intended a long term deal here, simply had to take over AC to get the other rinks! NEVER TRUST THE BEAR!

The pro-BB crowd will say that would have happened anyway even if they didn't buy it.

I posted they were shutting us down back in January and the naysayers came out saying this happens every spring. Well here it is we have no team now.

My kids are not at a BB rink and may transfer to a non-AHF team for their 16 and 18U season next year but I would be willing to bet that if BB make money there and keep it open, then yes, it would have closed anyway.

we live in a free market society, there are other options - go to Toms River, Brick, Hollydell - this was a club on a lifeline year to year for the last 10 years

Rink was run into the ground by first Comcast then Blackbear! "Landlord" didn't care, city didn't care, now my kids have no place to play! Once again, Governor should step in the way they step in to save Atlantic City!

Crappy unethical business practice yes, undermining their customers yes. But they owned the rink from what I was told so everything is theirs including the trash.

Rink was LEASED Furnished, which means that they MUST leave it as they found it! LOCK THEM UP!

I get that it stinks, if you live in that area you now have to travel, look at Brick and Toms River, right up the GSP, have a history of kids from SJ, I think building hockey in AC was always going to be struggle (and it has been since the 90's), but find a place for your kids
