What club do you know nothing about?
Topic: April 20, 2022, 05:57:24 PM
With the leagues mixing, certain teams are playing each other for the first time.  Southern teams are now playing Northern teams.

What club are you clueless about?

Mine is Chester County Skate Club.

CCSC is a local club run by its members in Kennett Square renting ice from Upland Country Day School.  It reminds me of a old York Road and Wisahicken.  Rink doesn’t open until September and closes in early March.  Get your games there in by December or risk the cold and drive. Teams are competitive in A and B.

Snider Hockey, I'm familiar with the teams, always extremely competitive, but what "qualifications" do you need to play for the org, is it free tuition, do you have to live in the city.

Definitely confused about the philly clubs (little flyers, flyers elite, Philly hockey club). Also curious about Venom, Revolution, and Pilots...these clubs seem to have a lot of chatter.

Age group matters some teams are really good some are really bad some barely stay above water.

I can only try my best here they are all over the place and depending what level age group and location you won't see some of these teams. Little Flyers are in Aston at the quad rinks their teams are both ayhl and dvhl now since they added tier2. Flyers elite aka comcast aka virtua is partly owned by the Flyers and play out of voorhees. They compete against venom and pilots who are from pennsauken for the same players so think about a turnstyle of the same kids filtering through all three teams at mite and squirt with parents hoping to make a super team. Revolution doesn't have teams at all levels so you really have to be age specific but most of their teams are pretty bad. They like to register in showcases and tournaments playing down so they can win games and make their schedule results look even on paper. Their rink is in warminster pa by bucks ice the rev rink smells like a toilet and leaking gas so bring a gas mask.

I know little about the teams from the DVHL coming to play in the AHF. Are the bigger clubs like LVPY, Team Philadelphia, Black Knights and VFC any good? We have only played them a hand full of times over the years in tournaments, they didn't seem to bad.

I am updating SJ AAA from previous post. A lot of changes occurred since December 2020.

Flyers Elite plays out of Pennsauken and are owned by BB now. Their official feeder rink is Igloo in Mt. Laurel. Pilots (Pennsauken) and Venom (Hollydell) are AAA full ice Mite teams and do not offer any half ice options or levels above Mites. Venom feeds PHC and Pilots are trying to build up to feed Flyers Elite. Hollydell Mite half ice are the Hurricanes (AHF) and Pennsauken is a AAA rink only. Igloo Jaguars offer half ice Mites (AHF). Voorhees is Tier II only, is completely separate now and still plays in NJYHL. Their kids are basically free agents and do not have a AAA affiliate rink. About 3-4 Voorhees Flyers Youth 2011 players moved to Aston for the Little Flyers 2011 AAA team. Flyers Elite does not have any team below 2010 for 22-23 season. They are trying to rebuild program but only 3 Pilots are playing AAA next year, 1 each for- NJ Titans, Jr. Flyers and Little Flyers.  The rest are playing A or AA at various rinks (mostly Igloo). Venom used to play out of Pennsauken but left for Hollydell in 2021 which decimated the Flyers Elite program. In 2021 PHC took the 2011 Flyers Elite & 2012 Venom AAA (NEHL) players and 2013 Venom (NEHL) players moved up to PHC this year. There is also Mercer Chiefs which attracted some of the Igloo 2011 & 2012 kids for AAA teams. Basically there are now 3 NJ AAA teams (PHC, Flyers Elite & Mercer) and 2 PA AAA (Aston & West Chester) teams for SJ players now.  Flyers Elite & Mercer are the least attractive teams as they struggle at the younger age levels. Not many SJ kids move to Revolution.  Tier II teams at Igloo, Hollydell and Voorhees are competitive, but it depends on age. Igloo is looking better at the Tier II level since a lot of Pennsauken kids moved over this year. Voorhees is ok, but lost a bunch of kids to AAA. Hollydell is great at AAA level, but not great at Tier II. This primer will last for 1 season and everything will most likely change in 23-24. Ice Hockey is one crazy sport!

Revolution is the "Tier 1" for Rev Ice Gardens in Warminster/Warwick. Royals is the Tier 2 program at the rink. They still lease Bucks County Ice for games. The rink has been rotting to death for the better part of a decade.

Snider hockey had a great concept to include families from the city that would otherwise never be able to afford the sport. However, it's been exploited by upper middle class people from inside and outside of the city for free hockey.

VFC is really hit or miss because they love to us evals like a popularity contest rather than actually evaluating players.
