Father of a 2011 here just curious how things went this weekend in Voorhees? Worth the tryout fee? Was it well ran? Enough evaluators to truly asses your kids with limited politics?

I am more interested in seeing how many people drop out of youth hockey when the travel costs approach the tuition cost this coming season.  do the math.

Underage players are not eligible for the District team. They are eligible for the Hershey, AHF, and likely other PeeWee Quebec teams out there.

Why would 2011's be underage?  They'll be PeeWee age next season.... although I would expect the vast majority (if not all) kids on District team is likely second year PeeWee's (2010).

Curious how many kids showed up? and were there kids who obviously wont make it past first cut? I was going to sign my kid up but he's not at that skill level so I saved the time and $$$.

200+ --> about 90 ---> final rosters of about 54.

I have to imagine that any coach/parent who has been around the 2010's for years could pick the rosters with at least 80%+ accuracy.  In other words, don't bother if your kid doesn't already stand out from the crowd.

Why not bother? That is a poor attitude. Tryouts are not just about making a team. It is about the experience and seeing where you stack up against better players. If your kid is smart they will talk with the coaches during after the tryout and see what the coaches are looking for. Maybe see if a coach will give them pointers on what it might take to make a similar team next season. Not everyone is a star, teams still need role players. If more kids took this advice, we would have a lot more quality players in the area. My daughter tried out for a AAA team this year with little shot at making it. She had fun, learned a lot and the coach told her what needed improvement to have a shot for next year. Give us a break with your defeatist attitude. These kids are PeeWees, not professionals. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with hockey parents!
