My kids actually started their hockey career there at age 5 in the Atom program. Justin is a super awesome guy that runs the rink.
That first year the kids had a blast and a terrific coach (JR).
The following year at age 6 my kids got the biggest a-hole coach on the planet Joe Staffieri. Quite frankly I am surprised my kids didn’t quit hockey after having that guy as a coach.
So because of that coach we switched over to the Snider program in March 2013 and been there ever since.
But there are still great people at OYR like Justin and most of the other coaches and families.
As for the rink itself it’s old school. That’s part of its charm. They are getting brand new compressors over the summer.
But when you go to that rink it’s a throwback and a nice break from the over modern super rinks of today.
I grew up on outdoor rinks only open Nov-Feb. So it’s nice that not every single rink is a super rink.
