Like it or not youth hockey is a business. PHC is chasing rankings. The higher your ranking means you can recruit better players and charge more money. If you AAA program is not highly ranked, you will not attract talent. Keeping your rink in the black is important and high rankings accomplish this. Hollydell is highly ranked for all their Tier 2 teams which means they are in the black already. With PHC being the premier AAA team in the SE PA/South Jersey area, Hollydell can attract talent at the Tier 2 level by selling PHC as the end goal. If the Hurricane are the money Sundae, PHC is the solid gold cherry on top !

It's like you made that statement while totally ignoring what is actually going on. From what other posters have said below, their strategy is clearly blowing up in their face. The 2011 team was top ten ranked the previous few years.
Then several key players left. What are they now? They had several years where it was the talent destination. Look how far some of the players who left, on other years as well, are travelling to NOT play for PHC. And this is some of the better talent not the average players
Maybe the new coach will save things, but your quote "If you AAA program is not highly ranked, you will not attract talent" is actually proving true for many of their teams
