Some of the more advantageous youth hockey coaches leverage video to help instruct their players.
In this day and age technology has come a long way since VHS tape and the war room. Today coaches can splice up game video and send it to their players via email, text, or social media. With that being said, what different types of software are there?
Let's discuss.
First and foremost there are the in-rink live feeds. Two of the most notable are
Streaming Live Games- Livebarn.com $14.95 a month standard plan or $24.95 a month premium plan
- hockeytv.com $29.99 one month pass or $199.99 a year
- FREE - Requires a person to stream from their phone, tablet or video camera on-site
- Youtube.com FREE - Requires a Youtube account with live streaming activated. Also requires a person to stream from their phone, tablet or video camera on-site
- Facebook.com FREE - Requires a Facebook account. Also requires a person to stream from their phone, tablet or video camera on-site
Both streaming services provide HD and SD streaming options, both have PVR, archives and can be spliced as the customer see's fit. Neither service is free
Youtube has come a long way since only being able to upload. I myself take full advantage of Youtube as it's not only a free video hosting site anymore, it is now capable of editing uploaded videos and making queue points for discussing game videos. I record every game with an iPad pro from the stands and GoPro's behind each net. I then edit the video combining both to create highlight videos. The full games are used by the team's coaches for instructional purposes.
