pros and cons of DVHL vs EJEPL

We are in the decision phase with bailing on the the DVHL. The DVHL top teams have become so predictable it's pointless to bother anymore. We've heard good things and bad things about the EJ league but know nothing about it. From what we've read the Revolution hockey club plays entirely in the EJ and that's our primary interest. Can anybody speak of travel, and the competition at tier ll travel level?

That's nothing new with the DVHL. The Rev schedules depend on how many games are scheduled for the season but for the most part travel isn't bad. Most away games are in New Jersey, probably 60/40 home vs away. Compared to DVHL travel to Harrisburg, Lancaster and York it's practically the same distance when all is said and done. As for the competition it's probably the same too. If you played tournaments and non-league games in the DVHL you've probably already played the same teams from NY and NJ Rev plays.

Check the tuition for Revolution, it was raised exponentially for 14U and up. But yeah, the travel is basically the same. You'll go east instead of west.

Depends on the level your child plays at.  EJ has Platinum which is comparable to AA, and they have Futures Gold and Silver which are comparable to A National and A American.  Some Tier II programs play both.  EJ doesn’t have much to offer at the B level, especially at the younger age levels.  There was some talk about their adding a limited travel division, but don’t know what happened with that.  Have not played EJ’s but what I have heard annecdotally is that there is a wider range of teams in EJ, some way stronger, some weaker, which results in more games that are blowouts.

EJ is pretty disorganized. Expect last minute schedule changes. Players will miss school for league games. Also hope you love using Travelling teams to book hotels to play teams you drive past on your way to a 'showcase.'

Bottom line the EJEPL is great as an add on to a regular league schedule especially for older high skilled teams.  It is not ideal however for younger or less skilled teams and leaves a lot to be desired if used as the only league for a team.

Go play in the NJYHL. The DVHL is and always has been a joke.

It is great to supplement your NL/tournament schedule(at least at the AA level), but it still has a far way to go to be something to replace playing in the DVHL, NJYHL, etc. The EJ offers no path to Districts or Nationals. There are too many teams that are spread out from Maine to Florida. Maybe if they add more teams over time they could have regional divisions similar to USPHL. They don't do any better than the other leagues as far as placing teams in correct divisions. DE Ducks and Palmyra 16AA teams both playing in Futures division. At least with my son, while he likes going to tournaments and playing different teams, he loves knowing he'll be playing Delco, VFC, Haverford, etc twice year in the regular season.

Go play in the NJYHL. The DVHL is and always has been a joke.
